Learning Spanish Fast By Remembering

I love to learn new things. It fascinates me. I love to discover new places, and learn new languages and figure out how certain things work.

Zero Point Learning

There is a famous story, called the '100th monkey', which you might already have heard. It's about a team of researchers who taught monkeys how to peal their potatoes before eating them. No other monkeys ever did this. After they taught around 100 monkeys to do this on an isolated island, other colonies of monkeys on the faraway mainland also started pealing their potatoes. The two tribes had had no contact whatsoever. How did they learn this?

When we are looking into superlearning, or what I prefer to call 'remembering', we have got to acknowledge that there is more to learning than just 'cramming'. The brain is something mysterious. Science does not understand it. In essence it are vibrations, electromagnetic fields etc that store the information in the brain.

Scientists involved with the 'zero point theory' in quantum physics have proven many times over that there is a 'zero point field' present everywhere. This field contains all the information of everything. The book of Lynn McTaggart called 'The Field', is full of scientific studies about this zero point field, many of them even done at Harvard.

Now here is the one million dollar question. How can we connect to this field in order to gain knowledge, and more specifically, learn Spanish. Well, we already do this without being aware of it. Our unconscious mind connects to it many times a day to get some 'far away' information. When a baby learns to speak for instance, the field will help him or her remember. Key to connecting with this field, is to relax and just let the information come to you.

Learning Spanish By Relaxing

How do we apply this when learning a language. Since lots of people already know any language imaginable, the information is abundantly present in the field. You might have noticed that once you know a certain thorough basis of a language, you have spoken with native people, or are in a certain country, the language seems to come naturally to you, and you are able to guess certain words. Well, you're not guessing, you are accessing the field. Once your mind knows what the language looks like, for instance by hearing it all around you, you'll know where to 'find the language' it in the field and access it more easily. By getting into a relaxed state, your access of the field will be much easier.

Introducing Michel Thomas

Quite by accident, I stumbled upon the genius Michel Thomas. This man has an incredible background from during WW2. Where he was tortured for a long period. It was there that he started to understand how the human mind works. He is (almost natively) fluent in many languages and has a talent for teaching other people.

The Structure of a Language

Language learning basically breaks down to two things: grammar and vocabulary. With Michel, you will be focussing on the structure of the language. Which is grammar. You build the house from bottom to top and later on you can decorate it with vocabulary. The thing is though, it doesn't really feel like you are studying grammar. That's because of his principles:

  • You just need to relax, no taking notes, no memorizing, no reading. Just listening and responding.
  • Michel takes full responsibility for your learning.

Being in this relaxed state helps you to access the field and remember the language.

By the way. Do you know the song "que sera sera"? It was Michel who instructed this singer in Spanish. This was just one of his students. Many of them are royalties and celebrities.

My Experience With Michel Thomas

I had already studied some Spanish before starting his 8 hour program. But I decided to do it together with a friend of mine who had no knowledge of Spanish what so ever. The results where stunning. After a few hours, we were able to make fluent conversation in Spanish. No, we did not know all the words, but we understood the structure and all the rest came out of 'nowhere'. Well, if you can spare 8 hours to learn a language, I love Michel. I am on his Japanese program right now, and again, I am amazed. Thank you for making these CDs available!

Try it for yourself
